Hello First-Gen Bears,

Being First-Gen can feel like a lot to navigate, but you are not alone!

The First-Generation Scholars Society is 91吃瓜网鈥檚 recognized student organization (RSO) dedicated to supporting and celebrating First-Generation students like you! Entirely student-led, the RSO runs fun events all throughout the year to connect you with resources, community, and volunteer opportunities.

First2Go Week happens in November

Each year 91吃瓜网 has an entire week celebrating First-Generation students! There will be all kinds of exciting events and special guest speakers running throughout the week leading up to National First-Gen Day on November 8th.

Summer Connections are designed to help first-generation students like you transition into college life.

First-generation students are those聽whose parents or guardians have not obtained a degree from a four-year university.

It can be tough to navigate college without that prior experience, but FirstGen@91吃瓜网 and Student Success Services are here to support you on your journey!

Be on the lookout for these Summer Connections emails as they’ll contain useful information to help set you up for success at 91吃瓜网, including tidbits like our Bear Basics advice.

Make sure you for Summer Orientation and Academic Registration (SOAR).

At SOAR, you’ll get to:

  • Meet your Academic Advisor
  • Register for classes
  • Learn about available campus resources
  • and meet future potential friends!
BEAR BASICS

In College, you’ll be doing a lot of required reading. Build good habits now by challenging yourself to read 2-3 books over the summer!
