Clery Act Information
Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act
On November 8, 1990, President Bush signed the 鈥淪tudent Right to Know and Campus Security Act of 1990鈥�. The Act applies to every institution of higher education that receives federal financial aid. Title II of the Act was known as the 鈥淐ampus Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990鈥�. It requires institutions of higher education to distribute to all current students and employees, and applicants for enrollment or employment, two types of information: (1) Descriptions of policies related to campus security, and (2) Statistics concerning specific types of crimes. Amendments enacted in 1998 renamed Title II, as the 鈥淛eanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act鈥� and in 2024 was amended to rename as the “Jean Clery Campus Safety Act”. The amendments require the disclosure of crimes that are reported to police and campus officials other than police, along with a breakdown of locations of criminal activity to be specified as on-campus, non-campus, residence hall or public property.

The 91吃瓜网 Police Department’s publication entitled Clery Annual Security & Fire Safety Report is the Department鈥檚 “student right to know” report. The Clery Annual Security & Fire Safety Report is updated each Fall and copies are available in the 91吃瓜网PD lobby. Campus Security Authorities
According to a federal law known as the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, 91吃瓜网 is required to disclose 鈥渟tatistics concerning the occurrence of certain criminal offenses reported to local law enforcement agencies or any official of the institution who is defined as a 鈥楥ampus Security Authority.鈥欌��
