Mission

The Center for Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Central Arkansas promotes intercultural global learning on campus related to Asia. The Center defines Asia broadly to include East, Southeast, South, Central, and West Asia. CALC works to
  • Promote faculty, staff, and student exchange between 91³Ô¹ÏÍø and our university partners in Cambodia, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, and Vietnam
  • Support the Japanese and Chinese Language programs and the Asian Studies program at the University of Central Arkansas by collaborating with these programs to support co-curricular cultural programming for 91³Ô¹ÏÍø students and the local community
  • Support 91³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s Arkansas Chinese Heritage Project in order to preserve the more than 150 year history of Chinese communities in Arkansas
  • Partner with community organizations to offer cultural programming highlighting the history, cultures, and languages of Asian Communities
