The 91³Ô¹ÏÍø chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national honor society for political science, is sponsoring a panel discussion on the 2014 midterm election outcomes and impacts.Ìý The panel will feature 91³Ô¹ÏÍø professor Dr. Gary Wekkin and Hendrix professor, Dr. Jay Barth.

The event is scheduled for November 11 during X-period.Ìý It will take place in Irby 216.Ìý All interested persons are welcome.

Bearsgiving Food Drive Needs Your Help To Stock The Bear Essentials Food Pantry

The Bearsgiving Festival Committee is raising food for the Bear Essentials Food Pantry from November 3 through November 17, 2014.Ìý Food donation boxes will be placed in all department offices.Ìý The Bearsgiving FestivalÌý

Committee invites you toÌýgrab a couple extra cans from your shelf and drop them off in the donation boxes located all over campus.

The Bearsgiving Festival will be Monday, November 17, 2014Ìýfrom 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the McCastlain Ballroom.Ìý The festival is to raise awareness about the food pantry, which is located on the first floor of Old Main.Ìý It is open to anyone in need of food or hygiene products.Ìý Hours of operation are 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Wednesday.

Conway Symphony Orchestra Celebrated 30th Anniversary At 91³Ô¹ÏÍø

hangThe Conway Symphony Orchestra opened its 30th Anniversary season with a concert entitled “Thrilling at 30” Saturday, ÌýNovember 1, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in the Reynolds Performance Hall at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø.

The concert opened with the world premiere ofÌýFree Flight: Gliding Over ArkansasÌýby composer Paul Dickinson, Assoc. Professor of Composition and Music Theory at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø.

The newly commissioned work is based on Dickinson’s hang gliding adventures around the state. ÌýProfessor of Flute Carolyn Brown was featured in Cecile Chaminade’s lyricalÌýConcertino for Flute and Orchestra. ÌýThe concert closed with the always exciting Symphony No. 2 (The “Little Russian”) by Tchaikovsky.

The 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Fund under the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Foundation will be participating in #GivingTuesday on Tuesday, December 2, 2014.

It is a global day dedicated to giving backÌýwith a common purpose to celebrate generosity and to give.

The purpose of the University of Central Arkansas Foundation, Inc. is to further the goals of the University of Central Arkansas by securing and carefully managing private funds for the support of the University.

The Foundation solicits and manages endowment funds for scholarships, University programs, and other University needs.Ìý It also solicits and distributes restricted funds for University programs, buildings, and funds for current operating needs of the Foundation and the University.

91³Ô¹ÏÍø Hosts “The Wall That Heals” In Commemoration of Veterans Day

The-Wall-That-Heals-imageIn commemoration of Veterans Day, 91³Ô¹ÏÍø is proud to be a temporary home to The Wall That Heals, which is a traveling half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and Museum that allows Americans the opportunity to honor those who served their country during the Vietnam War.Ìý This exhibition features a 250-foot replica of the original Vietnam Veterans, which duplicates the D.C. memorial. The Wall allows those who gave their lives to be honored by communities throughout the country.Ìý The Wall brings peace, hope, courage and healing to all who view it.

Students, faculty, staff, and the general public are encouraged to attend and to bring their friends and family along.Ìý The Wall That Heals will be open to the public 24 hours a day beginning Thursday, October 30, 2014.Ìý The wall will remain open until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2014.

Volunteers are still needed to assist visitors touring the wall, so if you are interested in volunteering, please visitÌýuca.edu/outreach/wall.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial honors the more than three million Americans who served with the U.S. Armed Forces in the Vietnam War. ÌýIt is the most visited memorial in Washington, D.C., withÌýmore thanÌýfour million visitors each year. ÌýIts black granite walls bear the names of the more than 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.Ìý Since its inception in 1996,Ìýmore thanÌýtwo million people have visited the traveling exhibit.Ìý It has made stops in nearly 250 U.S. locales in addition to an April 1999 tour of the Four Provinces of Ireland and a visit to Canada in 2005.
