Freshman Journey

Beginning of Each Semester

  • Join Bear Life (Summer – August 30 or December 15 – Jan 15)
  • Stop by the Student Success and Veterans Resource Center to pick up a free Academic Planner (Welcome Week – August 30)
  • Review Brightspace for your online coursework.
  • Read the class syllabus: Identify Contact Info, Office Hours, Textbook and Course materials, Homework and Lecture Policies, Course Calendar, Grading Rubric, and Absentee policy.
  • Make time to go meet with your professor(s) during their office hours to get to know them a little better.Ìý You can see how you are doing and how you can do better in that class (Meet with at least one professor per day)

Beginning of Your Second Semester

  • Discuss possible majors, minors, or even a second major with your advisor if needed; check out for ideas.
    • Undergraduate Bulletin: After completing 27 credit hours, students must have declared a major before the next semester’s course registration.Ìý
