David Ekrut of Cabot, a senior mathematics major at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø, has been awarded a Student Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. The grant is $2,650, and 91³Ô¹ÏÍø will add matching funds in the amount of $1,250.
David’s research project, “Generalized compatibiity for two dimensional nonlinear diffusion equations,” is a generalization of current symmetry methods most often used to derive exact solutions of nonlinear differential equations. Danny Arrigo of the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø?s Mathematics Department will serve as faculty mentor for the research.
